The Best Intentions

Everyday I read others blogs who post daily, and tell myself "That will be me!" You know, that organized, witty woman, that talks about how she ironed her table linens, and whipped up a 7 course meal, while homeschooling, and making quilts for the homeless. And oh how I strive to be her! Not that I dont enjoy spending 30 minutes looking for a pair of matching shoes for a 3 year old that seems to lose just one from each pair, or trying to whip up something for dinner in 10 minutes that will make my meat loving husband, my vegan daughters, and my ULTRA picky autistic son leap with joy. Oh to be that proverbs 31 woman who rises before everyone else, and has "it" all together. I am still trying to figure out what "it" is. And how I can keep my kids from losing "it" if I do find "it".

How in the world did the pioneers do it!

So we are blessed with 3 bathrooms. Well someone caused the guest bath to become *ahem* "non working" yesterday. So I locked the door til hubby got home and could fix it. Went about my day and thought nothing of it. Near noon I start a load of laundry, still all is peaceful here until it hits the rinse cycle. That is the cycle where all the dirty water drains out first, before new clean rinse water comes in. Well, it seems we had a "main line stoppage" ( As my bill from the plumber says) which when all that water drained it came up through the toilet, and then all over my bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen floor. So now you have kids screaming, Mom crying, and Dad rushing home from work. So we went about 5 hours without being able to use any water at all in the house. Not an easy task for a household with 2 teenage girls who had not showered yet. So they left to go shower at friends houses, and the rest of sat and waited for the plumber. Who now in our house was more looked forward to then SANTA! Luckily now it is fixed, and all is well here. And I have now gathered a huge appreciation of the pioneer women who had no running water.........

Happy New Year! YAY a fresh start!

Okay well a little late, but still :)
It has been a crazy ( well crazier then normal) Holiday season this year. I am happy they are over. Which is odd for me. But due to my lack of planning ( you know like Christmas was surprise that I didn't know was coming) it made for a rushed, chaotic year. Evey year I say we are going to scale it down and focus on the true meaning. Ans while we do focus on the reason, it seems like we still bombard ourselves and the children with material things. Although I do admit it was better this year the the past. So one of my many resolutions this year is to scale back. Everything, not just the Holidays. We have too many toys, clothes, books, just too many "things". I want to spend more time then money on my children. I want to make those lasting memories that we will cherish forever.
